• Mobile Iris Recognition

* Objective

  • In mobile iris recognition system, because the restricted available power and installation space for illuminators and low computing power CPU of a mobile phone, there are the issues concerning illumination and speed of the system. Therefore, this research proposes solutions to minimize the issues which occur when iris recognition system is implemented in a mobile phone.

* Motivation

  • These days, mobile phone security is very important for user.
  • However, the existing methods, a personal identification number(PIN) or a pattern lock, have a crucial security flaws. And they become more inconvenient as their construction get complicated for higher security level.
  • For these reasons, biometric technology is recently used for mobile phone security.
  • Iris recognition has higher performance than other biometrics technologies and it is non-invasive because it uses a touchless sensor. A fake attack is also difficult due to difficulty of acquiring iris images of the phone¡¯s owner.

  • Implementation iris recognition system in a mobile phone.
  • Decide type, position, power and the number of NIR illuminators for a mobile iris recognition system.
  • Analyze iris image quality changes depending on user¡¯s gazing point in a mobile iris recognition system.
